Prior to having a True Form Tuck and liposuction with Dr. Patronella, this mother of 2 was self-conscious about the appearance of her abdomen, which she described as looking like “front buttocks.” This was caused by the C-section scar adhering to the tissues beneath it, making the surrounding loose skin appear more prominent. Dr. Patronella removed her C-section scar and loose skin, resculpting her abdomen to give it a sexy, smooth, softly contoured appearance.

Removal of a noticeable C-section scar is one of the much-appreciated benefits of tummy tuck surgery for Dr. Patronella’s abdominoplasty patients who’ve previously undergone Cesarean sections. While most of these women may have reasonably decent C-section scars, others have a scar that appears indented, which emphasizes the appearance of loose skin hanging above it or along the sides of it if it is vertical.

This is because the scar has a tendency to cling to the deep tissues beneath it, giving it a retracted appearance. This, in combination with the loose abdominal skin that commonly results from pregnancy, causes many women who’ve had C-sections to feel self-conscious about the appearance of their abdomens and limits their ability to wear form-fitting clothing styles and swimsuits.

In the vast majority of cases, a tummy tuck is required to eliminate this scar and the loose skin above it. As part of the True Form Tummy Tuck procedure, Dr. Patronella releases the deep scar from the underlying tissues to which it’s attached and removes it along with the excess skin. He then resculpts the abdominal appearance, creating a smooth transition from the skin above the incision line to the skin beneath it.
